Abergavenny Castle

The Motte was most likely built by the Norman Lord Hamelin de Ballon in 1087 AD. The tower built at the top of the motte would certainly have been wooden. Beneath the motte was the bailey - a yard including the sheds and stables. The entire castle was damaged in 1233 by Richard Marshal, Earl of Pembroke, and the Welsh princes. The keep was reconstructed in rock.

Berrington Hall

A neo-classical estate developed to a design by Henry Holland, set in exceptional yards by Capability Brown. The exterior of Berrington is limited classic design. The interiors are amazingly elaborate, with painted ceilings and an incredibly vast entry stairs. Berrington is the home of the Wade Costume Collection.
